Present in the country since 1992, MAPFRE is the leading multinational insurance group in Latin America. In Brazil, the company offers a wide range of services including insurance, pensions, investments, consortiums, capitalization, and home and vehicle assistance. In 2024, its global revenues surpassed 33 billion euros. Guided by the purpose “We care about what matters to you,” MAPFRE supports more than 31 million customers and 32,000 employees worldwide.

The company also upholds international commitments such as the Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) and is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact. Additionally, it maintains the Fundación MAPFRE, a nonprofit institution that promotes and invests in initiatives and research aimed at social well-being.

During COP30, MAPFRE will act as a catalyst within the "Casa do Seguro" (Insurance House), highlighting the strategic role of the insurance sector in the transition to a low-carbon economy. The company will actively participate in discussions on sustainable finance, resilient infrastructure, and climate intelligence — all essential topics for addressing climate challenges.

MAPFRE will also take part in a panel with other global insurers, exploring barriers and opportunities in adopting more sustainable business models, while sharing experiences on protecting vulnerable communities and developing ESG-aligned insurance products.

A key highlight will be the presentation of the study “Climate Change and the Insurance Sector,” produced by MAPFRE Economics. The study analyzes the economic impacts of extreme weather events and proposes strategies to enhance the resilience of countries at risk. MAPFRE’s engagement aims to inspire sustainable practices across the sector, reduce climate risks, and expand access to inclusive protection.

OUR COMMITMENT
TO THE CLIMATE AGENDA

Initiatives and projects aimed at combating climate change are an integral part of MAPFRE’s strategy. In line with our strategic commitment to the issue, we have set a goal to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. To support this objective, we are also developing global initiatives to reduce our emissions.

In 2024, MAPFRE already reduced it´s global carbon footprint by 25%. In Brazil, a standout initiative is the “MAPFRE Forest” project, which is restoring nearly 30 hectares of Atlantic Forest in the interior of São Paulo through the planting of 42,000 native tree seedlings. This project aims to offset the carbon emissions of the company's Brazilian operations by 2028, while also contributing to Brazil’s goal of restoring native forests and degraded lands.
